Lebanese Chapter of ASHRAE Research Grant

The Lebanese Chapter of ASHRAE has received a USD 5,000 grant from the Order of Engineers and Architects of Beirut (OEAB) to encourage research in the field of HVAC&R within the local engineering community.
Accordingly, the Chapter has the pleasure to invite interested researchers to apply for this research grant.
 
The applications shall be submitted in electronic format to the secretariat of the Chapter at the following email: ashrae.lebanon@gmail.com
 
The research proposals must include the following:
- Abstract.
- Background and objectives.
- Statement of proposed research and methodology.
- Expected out-comes and potential end users.
- Budget summary.
- Project team members.
- References.
- Appendices: CVs…

The full proposal document is expected to be in the range of 5-10 pages not including appendices, and delivered in English, French or Arabic.
The project duration should not exceed 12 months.
The deadline for submitting applications is July 1st, 2010.
 
All proposals will be thoroughly reviewed and evaluated using a mix of topic-oriented (50%) and methodology-oriented (50%) criteria. The topic-oriented criteria are localized and include:
- Relevance to local issues and problems 20%.
- Technical and economic feasibility at local scale 20%.
- Safety and health hazard issues 10%.

The methodology-oriented criteria are based on the “ASHRAE Proposal Evaluation Guidelines”, available online at “http://www.ashrae.org/technology/page/39”.
 
The announcement for the incumbent application shall be made not later than July 30th, 2010.
